Heating and cooling in Boca Raton
Boca Raton's User Fee Schedule, effective October 1, 2026, has no stand-alone mechanical row. Item (4) covers additions, alterations and repairs, mechanical included. It's a $100.00 minimum for the first $500 of valuation and then 1.60% of the remaining valuation, and the amount includes plan check and sub permit fees except fire. The initial permit processing deposit is $100.00 or 1% of valuation, whichever is greater. Re-inspection costs $79.00. At 200 NW 2nd Avenue, the Building Department answers at 561-393-7930 or buildingpermits@myboca.us.
The printed hours are 8am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday. Wednesday ends at 3pm. Applications, fee payment and inspections go through Boca eHub, and plan files go through Boca ePlans (ProjectDox). The city's Code in Effect page lists the 8th Edition (2023) Florida Building Code and the Boca Raton Municipal Code of Ordinances. Owner-builders face tight rules here. Any owner who pulls their own permit must own the single-family home, live there without renting it, and not hold the property through a business.
Sections 7 and 8 of the application must be signed and notarized by the owner regardless of job value, and the city doesn't accept a contractor-filled owner/builder application. Under item (4), a replacement valued at $500 or less pays the $100.00 minimum, and the 1.60% applies only to valuation above that.
What heating and cooling work costs near Boca Raton
Nobody's given us a quote for work in Boca Raton yet, so this page can't show a city price. The Florida page lists the estimates with what technicians earn (the Florida mean in May 2025 BLS wage data is $27.55 an hour, which is their pay, not your price) and some city and county permit fees. How we estimate costs.
Permits for heating and cooling work in Boca Raton
Florida cities and counties issue the permit for replacing an air conditioner, heat pump or furnace, and each sets its own fee; the state's $7,500 small-job permit exemption leaves out mechanical work. DBPR certifies or registers the air-conditioning contractor, so ask for that license number as well as what your permit office needs.
