Heating and cooling in Cape Coral
Cape Coral's Miscellaneous Permit Fee Schedule, effective January 1, 2026, lists an air conditioning change out at $100.00 and miscellaneous mechanical permits other than new construction at $199.00. It covers building permit fees only. Additional fees may apply, the schedule says, and a 2.5% surcharge for enforcing the Florida Building Code will be added to all permits. Both rows carry an asterisk, so ask what it covers before you count on either figure.
Permitting Services is at 1015 Cultural Park Blvd, reached at (239) 574-0401 or permits@capecoral.gov. Office hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm weekdays. Its permitting counter keeps 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, and every application goes through the EnerGov Self-Service Portal. Statewide, the Florida Building Commission dates the 8th Edition (2023) from December 31, 2023. Its code menu also lists a Draft 9th Edition (2026).
The city's pages don't name one. Under state law, the edition in effect on your application date governs the permit for its life. Housing here has a median year built of 2000, and owners live in 77.2% of occupied units (ACS 2020 to 2024). Edition questions, like the asterisk on the $100.00 row, go to permits@capecoral.gov, the Permitting Services address.
What heating and cooling work costs near Cape Coral
Nobody's given us a quote for work in Cape Coral yet, so this page can't show a city price. The Florida page lists the estimates with what technicians earn (the Florida mean in May 2025 BLS wage data is $27.55 an hour, which is their pay, not your price) and some city and county permit fees. How we estimate costs.
Permits for heating and cooling work in Cape Coral
Florida cities and counties issue the permit for replacing an air conditioner, heat pump or furnace, and each sets its own fee; the state's $7,500 small-job permit exemption leaves out mechanical work. DBPR certifies or registers the air-conditioning contractor, so ask for that license number as well as what your permit office needs.
